Advanced Resuscitation Techniques & First Aid
“Learn the skills and knowledge to use oxygen, airway management devices and automated defibrillator during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious or unconscious breathing casualties as well as skills and knowledge to manage an emergency first aid situation”
The aim of this course is to provide you with the skills and knowledge to manage emergency first aid situations until professional medical support is available. On successful completion, you will receive an Advanced Resuscitation Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate and a statement of attainment for units of competency.

**You will be taught the skills and knowledge to perform Advanced Resuscitation Techinques and First Aid to a conscious or unconscious person
Dear Members, We are excited to announce that the club will be holding an ARTFA course in partnership with Upwey High School!
This course will provide you with your ART, First Aid and CPR qualification, and is ideal for members needing to requalify these awards. You are required to redo the First Aid and ART courses every 3 years, and redo your CPR course yearly. If you’re not sure whether you need to requalify, check your award expiry dates via surfguard members area. If you need more information regarding the course details, please see the club website under ‘courses and pathways’.

+ Course Outcomes
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- respond to an emergency situation
- perform primary (DRSABCD) and secondary (vital signs) assessment of a victim
- perform advanced resuscitation, including use of oxygen equipment, oropharyngeal airways and suction
- communicate details of an incident
- complete documentation
- evaluate an incident and your own performance
- restore equipment ready for use.
+ Pre-requisites
- You must be a current financial member of Woolamai Beach SLSC
- You must be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment

- HLTAID009: Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID010: Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

- HLTAID015: Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

- The Advanced Resuscitation Techniques award must be re-qualified every year at a Skills Maintenance day run by:

- Another Lifesaving Club
- Lifesaving Victoria

- Must renew ART (HLTAID015) every 3 Years via a full course or update course
- Must renew Resuscitation/CPR (HLTAID009) every 12 months via a full course or update course
First Aid
- Must renew First Aid (HLTAID011) every 3 Years via a full course or update course
- Must renew Resuscitation/CPR (HLTAID009) every 12 months via a full course or update course
Please Note: If you do not keep your CPR (HLTAID009) current, your ART and First Aid will expire.
