Becoming a TAF for ARTFA

 

First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation Techniques and CPR are accredited awards, meaning they are nationally valid outside of a lifesaving context. LSV as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) mandates some extra steps to gain and maintain your ability to train/assess/facilitate these awards: HLTAID009 & HLTAID011 & HLTAID015.

Training:

Prerequisites to become a trainee:

  1. Hold one of: TOC / Cert IV in Training & Assessment / Diploma of VET / Secondary Teaching Degree (VIT registered).

  2. Ensure you have currency in the awards you want to train.

  3. Train one course under supervision as a trainee.

  4. Complete the F33 Trainer Evidence Form.

  5. Complete a ‘D9 TAF matrix’ initially, and every 2 years - click here to access the matrix.

  6. Meet or call with your Cert IV every 6 months and fill out the D11 supervisor form (TOC holders only) - click here to access the supervisor form.

  7. Submit the D9 matrix, D11 supervisor form and F33 evidence form to volunteertraining@lsv.com.au.


Assessing or Facilitating

  1. Follow all the same steps of gaining and maintaining the trainer qualification - including completing a biannual D9 matrix (no supervisor form required).

  2. Assess or facilitate one course as a trainee.

  3. Complete the F34 Assessors or F35 Facilitators evidence form.

  4. To become an assessor or facilitator of ARTFA, you must hold one of the following:

  • Assessor Certificate

  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment

  • Diploma of VET

  • Secondary Teaching Degree (VIT registration) & Assessor skillset
