Learn the skills and knowledge to effectively crew/drive an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations

You will be taught the skills and knowledge to safely:
- Crew/Drive an IRB
- Prepare the components of an IRB and auxiliary equipment
- Contribute to the safe and efficient launching of an IRB
- Identify the components of an IRB motor
- Safely and efficiently negotiate the surf while driving an IRB
- Demonstrate safe crewing positions while negotiating the surf
- Identify hazards and risks and clearly communicate them to the driver
- Perform rescues, including conscious and unconscious casualty pick-ups
- Perform emergency procedures
+ Course requirements
- You must be a current financial member of Woolamai Beach SLSC, renew here
- You must be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment to gain the IRBC award.
- You must be at least 17 years of age on the date of final assessment to gain the IRBD award.
- Hold one of the following SLSA awards
- Bronze Medallion
- Senior First Aid
- Resuscitation
- IRBC (If you are applying for IRBD)
- Marine Licence (If you are applying for IRBD)
