Alan McLean and Ron Nicholson awarded Life Governorship

Woolamai Beach SLSC recently held its 2019 AGM and two members were recognized for their commitment and service to the Club.

Alan McLean and Ron Nicholson were awarded Life Governorship.

Both Alan and Ron have dedicated their lives to Woolamai Beach SLSC with 50 years of exceptional service. Their life experience in and out of Surf lifesaving makes them perfect ambassadors and Life Governors of WBSLSC.

Alan McLean first joined Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club in 1970 and achieved his bronze medallion on the 6th March 1971. Alan’s passion was racing surf boats, and for the next 40 years, Alan developed the surf boat rowing team to become a powerhouse in the Victorian surf boat rowing, competing annually at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.

Alan actively patrolled at Woolamai Beach when the only rescue equipment used was the belt and reel, and was a founding member of the helicopter rescue service where he performed that role for 8 years.

Thank you, Alan, and Ron, for your dedication to WBSLSC.
