Islanders Presentation Night

The Islanders leadership team would love to invite and welcome you to our annual presentation night this Saturday 16/04/2022

After another successful season, now is the time where we all come together to celebrate what in our completely unbiased opinion is the best patrol, as well as our outstanding members that have made this season so fun and enjoyable.

Hawaiian/tropical themed, the event will have a range of activities for everyone to enjoy mixed in with our award presentations. The bar will be open as well as a Pizza dinner, cost to be confirmed.

Join us this Saturday night for a tropical themed blast, don’t forget to bring your best Hawaiian shirts or coconuts!

When:

  • Saturday night - kicking off just after 6pm

Islanders will also be patrolling both Woolamai and Smiths Sunday and Monday and as always we’d love as many members to come down and patrol as possible!

See you there,

Islanders leadership team

Emergency Services AFL Match - Expressions of Interest

Life Saving Victoria (LSV) is thrilled to be participating in the 2022 Emergency Services AFL match. The match, organised by Hawthorn Football Club and now in its third year, is a celebration of the selfless work and commitment of the Victorian emergency services. It will support in raising vital funds for the Emergency Services Foundation, in addition to spreading awareness of the mental health issues that many in these fields experience.

The previous event held in 2019 saw a match day attendance of over 66,000, a national television audience of over two million and donations totalling $175,000, so it is a fantastic opportunity for LSV to come together with our emergency services colleagues and applaud the invaluable contributions of all emergency services personnel.

LSV is delighted to offer members the opportunity to attend the 2022 Emergency Services AFL match and to participate in special roles on the day. Details of the event, including activities that members can participate in, are outlined below:

Date: Saturday, 14 May 2022

Location: MCG Teams: Hawthorn FC v Richmond FC

Match time: 1.45pm (noting that members must be onsite from approximately 8.30am to support with preparations and to participate in pre-match activities)

Participant opportunities: Pre-game ceremony (involving a lap of the field) Guard of honour (as teams run onto the field) Yarra Park fan zone display Half-time goal kicking

Submitting an expression of interest

Before submitting an expression of interest, please take a brief moment to read the key details below:

  • We will consider submissions on a first come, first served basis. However, we would like to ensure we have a good representation from across our clubs.

  • Chosen participants will have the option to bring along a ‘plus 1’ to spectate the match post formalities.

  • Members will be provided with vouchers to purchase food and drink on the day

Members must attend in full patrol uniform

If you would like the opportunity to represent Life Saving Victoria at this important celebration, please submit an expression of interest by 11.00pm on Sunday, 24 April.

The online expression of interest form can be found here – 2022 Emergency Services AFL Match EOI

In the week following the closing date, members will be contacted to confirm if they have secured a place at this year’s event as well as which role they have been selected for on the day.

Remembering our fallen Lifesavers

Easter weekend marks three years since we lost Ross and Andrew Powell, who tragically lost their lives conducting a rescue mission at Port Campbell in April 2019. It continues to be a significant and painful loss that we feel each and every day.

In their memory, we again invite you to participate in a minute of silence at 12.30pm on Easter Monday, facing the water to remember them as we reflect on their lives and service. Three years on and our hearts still break, we send our thoughts to their families, the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club and community.

We will continue to honour them, and the service of all those who have lost their lives during lifesaving duty, keeping the community safe around water. Gone, but never forgotten.

  • One minute of silence

  • 12.30pm Easter Monday

  • At your chosen club or beach

As we remember our lost colleagues and reflect on the inherent danger of our roles as first responders, we remind our members that support is available at any time by contacting LSV Comms.
