AGM update -Breakfast at 10am - Sunday 24th July
As you have been previously advised, our club's Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 24th July 2022 at Woolamai Beach SLSC. The meeting will begin promptly at 10.30am.

Development Fund Board - AGM update
Following Jason Close's nomination for a position on the Club Board, a Life Member position has been made available on the Development Fund Board and this position has since been advertised to the Life Members to fill.
The club has received two nominations for a position on the Development Fund Board - Georgie Wettenhall and Kevin Pigeon. As there is only one position to fill, a vote by the Club membership will be required to decide who will fill this position. Please join the AGM this Sunday to cast your vote.

(New) - Silver Medallion Patrol Captain Award (SMPC)
The new Silver Medallion Patrol Captain (SMPC) award has been designed specifically to meet the skills and knowledge needed to act as a patrol captain in SLS. This award will replace the Silver Medallion Beach Management (SMBM) which will be removed from SLS awards from July 2022
Learning Outcomes
know the role and responsibilities of a patrol captain
know how to find and when to refer to organisational documents and policies
access and record information relevant to your patrol
apply the principals of effective leadership to motivate and engage team members
apply leadership techniques to manage multiple incidents as a patrol captain
effectively communicate in difficult situations, including managing inappropriate public behaviour
complete a surf risk assessment using Surf Risk Rating in the Operations app
lead patrol set up and pack down, and manage the beach during patrol
know how to set up the beach in special circumstances
action operational risk and hazard management
effectively manage a patrol team including the delegation of operational tasks
conduct effective briefing and de-briefing, including follow-up
coordinate the response to minor and major incidents including working with multi-agencies.
At this stage LSV have set up five trial courses between July and October 2022 and will look to start getting TAF’s upskilled in the award. This award will be mandatory for each patrol but will not be mandatory for each Patrol Captain. Discussions are still being made by the LSOC Executive and will be released before the season.

Surf boat storage
We are looking for somewhere hopefully on the Island to store the best of our surf boats as the Club will be keeping it.
We hope to offer some rowing experiences to our members in the coming season.

2022 Youth Symposium – Saturday, 27 August 2022
The LSVj Advisory Committee is delighted to announce that the 2022 Youth Symposium is returning in 2022 and will be delivered in person on Saturday, 27 August at Life Saving Victoria, Port Melbourne.
The Symposium will bring together youth members from across Victoria for a day of connection, fun, and empowerment through delivery of keynote speakers, leadership development activities and a platform to discuss the big issues facing our youth members.
The day promises to enrich, challenge, and facilitate our leaders of tomorrow with valuable leadership and communications skills. The jam-packed program also features keynote speakers from sport, leadership development and our lifesaving role models
Event Date: Saturday, 27 August 2022 / 9:30am - 4:00pm (Arrival from 9:15am)
