Training Update
Following the State Governments recent announcement of the future road map for Victorian’s, we are now able to start planning courses and skills maintenance sessions more freely. We do however still need to comply with Life Saving Victoria’s training/delivery requirements, and that unfortunately means less numbers on our courses that we would normally have (pre-COVID). Please see below training updates on the following courses.
The training team are currently working with LSV to ensure that we can still provide as many courses as we safely can for the 2021/22 season. Please bare with us and understand that we have no choice when it comes to our camp/course candidate limits.
December Bronze Camp Update
Due to an overwhelming number of members wishing to participate in our Bronze Courses this year, the club decided to alleviate some of that stress by putting on a September Course however, due to COVID we were unable to run the sessions we wanted, resulting in members being postponed to the December course.
At this stage, we have opened up the December Bronze Camp Registrations to all members who applied for the September course first. Unfortunately this means there are very limited spots available and so we will be creating an additional course which will run together with the Adult Bronze Course, and be named the November Bronze Course. Course details are below.
November Bronze Course
Registrations will open on the 29th October 2021 at 5pm!
Formally known as Adult Bronze Course. This will now be merged into a November Bronze Course
Open to anyone over the age of 15 years (including adults)
Course details can be found here https://www.woolamaibeach.org.au/adult-bronze-course
December Bronze Course
Registrations will open on the 29th October 2021 at 5pm!
7 Spots Remaining
Details can be found here https://www.woolamaibeach.org.au/bronze-medallion-camp
I strongly encourage members who miss out on the December Bronze Course, to participate in the November Bronze Course as this will be the last course we run for the 2021/22 season.
If you have any questions, please contact woolamaibronzecamp@gmail.com
Surf Rescue Certificate Update
Due to an overwhelming number of members wishing to participate in our SRC Courses this year, the club decided to create a smaller course of 4 full days rather than the usual 6, 3 hour sessions and duplicate the course providing more spaces for registrations! Registrations were opened to those that filled out the waitlist earlier in the year however there are still spots available on our second course!
For more information about the SRC Course, please click here https://www.woolamaibeach.org.au/src-course
SRC Courses
Registrations are now open for the Surf Rescue Course!
Dates:
Course #1: Dec 29th - Jan 1st 2022 (Full)
Course #2: Jan 2nd - Jan 5th 2022 (17 Spots Available)
If you have any questions, please contact training@woolamaibeach.asn.au
Other Courses
As LSV and clubs can prepare for a more COVID normal summer, we are now able to plan for courses with more certainty. The training team have recognised that there are a few members that need to update their First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation and CPR qualifications. To do this, you need to attend a full course run by a lifesaving club, or an external organisation. Unfortunanly, due to limited time before summer, the club WILL NOT be running any of those sessions until after the main season (January 31st).
Courses that we do look to running sometime this season are:
SSV Courses (ONLY for certain members at this stage)
Resuscitation (CPR) - after January
First Aid - after January
Advanced Resuscitation Techniques - after January
IRBC/IRBD
There is a dedicated training calendar on the website, which is updated constantly. To view courses that the club will deliver in the 2021/22 season, please view this page HERE. A course will always be advertised on Facebook and in the weekly updates so keep your eye out if you are interested.
If you have any further question, please don’t hesitate to contact me at training@woolamaibeach.asn.au

Skills Maintenance
Skills maintenance is intended to ensure all patrolling lifesavers remain proficient in their skills and display the appropriate knowledge and understanding of the patrol award criteria.
Skills maintenance activities will be available from November 27th onwards at Woolamai Beach SLSC and the delivery will be very similar to last season (e.g. smaller groups, increased hygiene measures, online content, adjusted activities and revised delivery format).
Specific details will be advertised next week however, in the mean time please ensure you are up to date in the following:
2) Ensure you have a valid WWCC as at 1/11/21
3) Ensure you are double vaxed and have filled in the vaccination status form
If you have any further question, please don’t hesitate to contact me at training@woolamaibeach.asn.au
