The finance and administration teamwork behind the scenes to keep our club financially stable and administration up to date
Our core activities during the year continue to be managing cashflow, assisting the other directors and teams with their objectives, Surf Guard processing, and ensuring we comply with all legal and regulatory reporting requirements.
The last year was an unusually busy year for Rochelle Olarenshaw (club administrator) who took on the role of project managing the “Pick My Project” clubhouse renovation in addition to her normal duties. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Rochelle for her outstanding contribution during this time and without her coordination efforts, diligence, and commitment (much of which was volunteered) our club renovation would not have been completed so successfully.
James Lester has continued as the club accountant managing the processing of our purchasing, sales, banking, and overall accounting processes. James’ commitment to quality and detail is reflected in our processing of thousands of transactions through our accounting and banking systems during the year and successfully passing our audit requirements. Carol Irving has continued in her role in actively promoting the rental of the club residence and organizing payments, cleaning, and booking processes. Terry Aslanidis with great support from several other members has continued to keep Surf Guard up to date and processed thousands of member renewals and certifications.
Due to the extraordinary work of many club members raising money through selling assets, club merchandise, sausage sizzles, nippers, (amazing) grant-seeking team, and many other activities, our financial strength has continued to grow during the year. As a result of many years of careful financial management and several extremely generous and kind bequests, we are establishing a Development Fund. The board of this fund will support the club board, club strategy, and provide additional governance of the fund and ensure its long-term growth. A special thank-you to Neil Hannan who has spent many hours working with me to establish the legal and constitutional constructs to support the creation of the Fund.
