Wow what a huge season, it turned out to be. The 2023-24 season has seen a lot of action across the club, both operationally and socially. The club has seen some new things purchased, some old things repairs and of course THE BLOCK!

The reality TV show The Block has done so much for our club this season if you haven’t been down yet, get down and have a look. Essentially, we received the following.

Bunkrooms 1&2

  • Floorboards, artwork, new bunks, mattresses, and full Manchester sets All complements of the Commonwealth Bank.

Kitchen:

  • New Cabinetry, new dishwasher, deep clean and relocation of the original dish steriliser.

Bar area / social area

  • New Electric blinds

  • New Downlights

  • New Fans

  • New Coat of paint

  • Massive mural of Sunderland Bay

  • New massive TV and gaming consoles

  • New lounge area / couches / coffee table, etc.

  • New Cabinetry around TV

  • New Sitting and storage area

  • New layout of club photos and memorabilia. Many brought out of storage / archives.

  • Removal of buckets of sand from the roof.

  • New bar top, seats and saloon doors

  • New cabinetry in bar area

  • Renovation of sink

  • Relocation of dish steriliser to bar area

  • New merchandise stands

  • New tables and chairs

  • New BBQ area

  • Creation of Scotty’s corner…

  • I know there is somethings I am missing but the key takeaway, is that we now have a world class bar and social area, we need to look after and be proud of for years to come. Good times ahead.

  • New Honour boards and relocation of honour boards in bar area

Around the grounds:

Woolamai Beach Club House: Completed tasks

  • New Front concrete pathway

  • Purchase and installation of a new bench Refrigerator in the kitchen

  • New Toilet installed in female bathrooms

  • New Dryers in male and females’ toilets

  • New pest management company (Shoreline) came on board Simon and crew.

  • 4 Massively successful working Bees!

  • Completion / hand over of the great wall of Woolamai to hold back the sand!

  • Instillation of New TV in bar area

  • Reduction of bunkroom bed to comply with Bass Coast Shire council requirements

  • Installation of new male shower dividers

  • Replacement of faulty electrical points, lights and switch board

  • New switchboard and wiring to begin in off season

  • Construction of clothesline

  • Repair of IRB motor tank board

  • Repair locking mechanism in front downstairs

  • Instillation of new energy saving windows and doors

  • Instillation of new blinds

  • Repairs and general maintenance to damaged gear shed roller doors, multiple calls outs.

  • New Wi-Fi system install

  • New landline and phone connected

  • Ongoing repairs to wooden ramp to deck level

  • Repair to mysterious water leak in tower (Hopefully)

  • New wrapping of old Surf Boat for Shoreline Pest Control

  • New lock on drinks fridge

  • Insulation of bug zappers in bar area, training room, kitchen, tower, bunks hallway.

  • New sprinklers for tower windows

  • Key audits

  • New lockboxes

  • Clearing of sand build up on lean too

  • New closers on external doors

  • New Air fryer for kitchen 

  • New air compressor fitting for IRB motors

  • New signage on switches in bar and kitchen area  e.g. “Do not turn off”

  • New shark alarm!

  • Repair to original Woolamai Beach Red and yellow sign outside near front entrance

  • Replacement of old BBQ for new one. Then the block gave us a new on anyway

  • Repair of hot water systems to give more constant hot water

  • New disability ramp installed

  • Removal of old club welcome / notices board. To be rebuilt or replace in off season

  • Removal of family naming bricks, (These are safely in storage understairs)

  • New lights in male changerooms

  • Replacement of Training room TV

  • Replacement hot water urn in kitchen

  • New smoke alarms and exit signs

  • Audit and replacement of firefighting resources

Smith’s beach tower:

  • Repair of door and locking mechanisms

  • New key lock box

  • Creation of the smith’s beach tower fund raiser.

  • General Maintenance

Residence:

  • New Electric hot water system installed

  • Arborist clean-up of trees around property

  • Plumbing repairs, downpipe, solar panels cleaned
