Members of Woolamai Beach SLSC,

Please find listed below some updates from the Board of Woolamai Beach SLSC following our meeting on 5th February 2020. Please remember that is it not possible to provide all notes and information due to the sensitive nature of some discussions. This document provides a snapshot.

 

Board Reports presented by Board Members:

President (Rob Murphy):

  • Awaiting an update from John Thompson re discussions with PINP with regards to the primary dune and proposed management from DWELP. We will be attempting to arrange a meeting to emphasize our concerns.

  • The grill plates for the club stove have been shipped from Sydney. Currently unable to track due to cyber attack on Toll delivery systems. Requested the supplier to contact Toll for an update, awaiting a reply

  • Presentation Night date is set for 2020. Assembling a team to assist in organizing the event.

Vice President (Stafford Smith):

  • Due to personal circumstances, the Vice President did not attend the meeting


Director of Finance and Administration/Secretary (Mark Bain):

  • Working on the establishment of our development fund, ready for our Extraordinary Meeting on Channel Challenge weekend this weekend at 5.00pm

  • Working with the Channel Challenge team on Administration and Finance for the event. Rochelle will be attending

  • Administration Grant- activities completed

  • Rolled over our Term Deposit for 7 months at 1.65%

Director of Life Saving Services/Club Captain (Max Eldridge):

Mallacoota SLSC

  • Jayco has donated Caravan

  • Private donor going to put approximately $5000 towards fit-out

  • Trivia Night, Channel Challenge social night and Channel Challenge donation going towards this

Special Events

  • Equipment in a good state

  • Water Safety Positions are covered for Channel Challenge, working on Cowes Classic

Bass Jet Skis

  • Functioning well and patrols going well

  • Looking at a possible training day down at Inverloch, working alongside Inverloch’s Club Captain and Terry Aslanidis (Bass Life Saving Operations Officer)

Time away (Due to upcoming wedding)

  • Have already notified about time away for myself and two Club Vice Captains taking over for a 3 week period

Patrols are functioning well, we are coming off the back of Peak Season

Off-Peak season

  • Guards finish the extended season on 9th February for Smiths beach and Woolamai Beach

Director of Facilities/Assets (Darrell Clark):

  • Air Cons approved and ordered however Alfie has hurt himself, so the installation has been delayed

  • Essential roof repairs being organized

  • Grass matting approved and ordered and maybe ready to pickup 7/2/20

  • Smith's Tower repairs and maintenance – awaiting season end to attend.

  • New windows and doors either side of the TV wall ordered awaiting deposit to be paid.

Director of Communications (Riley Fyffe):

  • Local clothing finished promotion Jan 1st  raised $623 for WBSLSC. Big thank you to the Underwood family for choosing WBSLSC to launch their business.

  • Communications for Bronze & SRC camps completed. Events will be not published until season finishes

  • Complete access to the club website and Mailchimp

  • Bass Coast series marketing campaigns established. Sitting at 160 entrants on 02/02/19. (Paid promotion started on Thurs 30/01/19, 252 link clinks since Thursday).

  • Home page website has been restructured

  • Pickmyproject members breakfast completed (60/70 people attended)

  • Merch sales for the season to date are $24,689 (676 items)

  • A large number of Toodies (towel ponchos/hoodies) were ‘reassigned’ through club Bronze & SRC camps, with each attendee receiving one (92 Toodies).

Director of Member Development (Brendan Smart):

  • Submitted grant application to Russel Broadbent MP for $5,000 worth of first aid and training equipment this week

  • IRB Camp expression of interest open

Director of Nippers (Charles Tuchtan):

  • No report was given

 

Director of Competition (Jeremy Goodger):

  • Proposal for payment of competition fees via Teamstuff, to be finalized by EOW

  • Need IRB crews for the 2 carnivals in February (Jan Juc 15th Feb and Point Leo 23rd Feb).

  • In the upcoming ‘What the WBLSLC Board has been doing’ email, can whoever writes this please put a note in that if any members are interested in competing in any Junior / Senior / Master events please contact me.

  • Follow up with Comp Team parents about IRB training, as we will need this more this upcoming season.

  • Before season over, Stafford / Jeremy and Fi to have a ‘what worked well / what we could do better’ meeting for club champs.

  • Finalize camping / arrange state champs shirts in the next 2 weeks.

 

Director of Leadership Development (Hannah Tzimokas):

  • Have submitted 5 applications for the U13 Development Camp

  • Have submitted 3 applications for International Women’s Day breakfast

  • Held a meeting with younger members to inspire and work together to ensure that younger members voices are heard

Decision Papers presented to the Board:

A decision paper was presented to the Board on the increase of hourly rate for a paid employee

  • This was approved

A decision paper was presented to the Board on the consistency of messaging surrounding Smiths Beach patrols by volunteers

  • This was approved

A decision paper was presented to the Board on the approval of general maintenance items for the clubhouse

  • This was approved
