Clubhouse Works

Dear Members,

The Board wishes to advise Members that the Clubhouse and Residence will be closed to Members during the following dates for important revenue generating activities, lifesaving training and maintenance. 

Members are not to attend either site during the below dates without the prior approval of a Board Member. Thank you for your cooperation.

Clubhouse

  • Bentleigh College Camp - Monday, 20th February to Wednesday 22nd February (inclusive)

  • Padua College Camp 1 - Wednesday 22nd February to Friday 24th Februayr (inclusive)

  • Padua College Camp 2 - Monday 27th February to Wednesday 1st March (Inclusive)

  • Padua College Camp 3 - Wednesday 1st March to Friday 3rd March (inclusive)

  • Padua College Camp 4 - Monday 6th March to Wednesday 8th March (Inclusive)

  • Padua College Camp 5 - Wednesday 8th March to Friday 10 March (inclusive)

  • BCHC SRC Camp - Monday 3rd April to Wednesday 6th April (inclusive)

  • Roof Maintenance - Monday 10th April to Friday 5th May (inclusive, however, excludes weekends and public holidays).

Residence (You MUST have a booking via the Secretary to use the Residence outside of the below dates)

  • IRB Camp - Friday 10th March to Monday 13th March (inclusive)

  • IRB Camp - Friday 17th March to Sunday 19th March (inclusive)

  • BCHC SRC Camp - Monday 3rd April to Wednesday 6th April (inclusive)

Bass Coast Series Update - Help Required!

With the Cowes Classic and Little Penguin Dash having been successfully completed (a big thank you to everyone who helped out) we now turn our attention to the final leg of the series, the rescheduled San Remo Channel Challenge.

2023 U13 Development Camp – Closing Soon!

The U13 Development Camp is an opportunity for youth members to develop their interpersonal skills, broaden their understanding of lifesaving and support participants as they progress through their lifesaving journey.

Mentored by current outstanding volunteer leaders, participants will have the opportunity to learn, share and network with likeminded lifesavers from across the state over a 3 day live in camp. Clubs are encouraged to promote and nominate suitable members to apply for the Camp.

The camp will be taking place on the following dates:

Friday, 31 March to Sunday, 2 April 2023 at YMCA Camp Lake Dewar, Myrniong Vic Applications close Tuesday, 28 February 2023

U13 Development Camp - Leader Applications

Life Saving Victoria (LSV) is seeking Camp Leaders to assist with facilitating and administrating the 2023 U13 Leadership Development Camp. Being a Camp Leaders will provide you with an opportunity to extend your own leadership potential, develop valuable facilitating skills, network with likeminded members and to assist in establishing the next generation of young leaders

Alan Pitts Youth Development Fund

The Alan Pitts Youth Development Fin (APYDF) was established in memory of Life Member Alan Pitts who passed away in 2010. Pittsy was one of Surf Life Savings greatest characters who always saw the best in others and believed that Surf Lifesaving was a way of life that offers young people a ‘life changing experience to develop and become the very best that they can be.

How does the Fund Work?
Successful Participants will be eligible for up to 50% of the total camp cost to be funded by the Woolamai Beach SLSC.

How to nominate?
Once you have applied and are successful in obtaining a position on the U13 Development Camp, please email memberdevelopment@woolamaibeach.asn.au expressing your interest. The Advisory Board will then review the application and contact you with the outcome.


Rescue Water Craft (RWC) - EOI

Life Saving Victoria is now inviting applications from members who wish to attain the Rescue Watercraft (RWC) Certificate. LSV is wishing to increase in service capabilities within the RWC Space.

Prerequisites

All applicants must meet the below criteria by the start date of the course to be eligible to be put on an upcoming course for the award.

  • Current Financial Member of a Victorian Life Saving Club

  • Bronze Medallion (BM) / Certificate II in Public Safety

  • Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – (HLTAID009)

  • Provide First Aid – (HTLAID003 or HLTAID0011)

  • Provide Advanced Resuscitation Technique – (HLTAID007 or HLTAID015)

  • Silver Medallion Beach Management (SMBM or SMPC)

  • SSV Operator (SSV)

  • IRB Crew (IRBC)

  • IRB Driver (IRBD)

  • Current Victorian Driver’s License

  • Current Victorian Marine License with PWC Endorsement

RWC Watercraft Trainer – EOI

Life Saving Services is now inviting EOI’s from members who wish to assist in the Training and Assessment of Rescue Watercraft Certificate (RWC). Trainers and Assessor’s may assist in the delivery of Skills Maintenance, Full Course or Skill days. The member will show up to date knowledge and skills involving RWC’s and be able to deliver a high level of training and assessment experience.

Volunteer Leadership Program

Supports the local leadership capability of disaster resilience and emergency management volunteers amongst community organisations, not-for-profits, disaster relief organisations and local government.

The program explores leadership and management strategies in the context of volunteering, including:

  • leading change in an organisation

  • building and maintaining motivation

  • identifying and working with different personality types

  • resolving conflict, addressing performance issues and giving constructive critical feedback

  • stress and self-care strategies

  • contemporary issues facing the emergency management sector.
