Club Statement: Incident at Forrest Caves 24/01/2024
You may have seen in the media that there was an incident today at Forrest Caves beach, which is unpatrolled. A number of swimmers got into difficulty. Several of our club members responded, as paid lifeguards, jetski operators and as volunteers. There were also club members among the medics and paramedics who attended at the beach, as other members provided cover for the beach lifeguards. All responders did an outstanding job and are receiving support. We’re very grateful for their efforts and care for all involved.
We pass on our sincere condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives and are in hospital.
We know that some of you may want to come to the clubhouse to provide support. LSV is providing thorough support to those directly involved this evening. We therefore respectfully ask that you not come here tonight unless you’re directly requested to do so.
Times like these can be difficult and may raise issues for some people. There will be information shared here this evening on further support. Please look after each other and yourselves.
Please refrain from commenting about the incident on social media or online, all communications about the matter will go via LSV media and any enquiries should be directed there.

Water Safety Needed - Cardinia Primary School
Every February Cardinia Primary School holds a picnic at Cowes Beach on Phillip Island. They take their whole school and many families come too!
They have a beach walk, a sandcastle building competition, a BBQ and then a play in the water. During the water play we have 8 teachers standing in a rectangle no deeper than thigh deep in the water. The children are invited to play in the water within this rectangle.
If any lifesavers are available to spend an hour of their time at Cowes please reach out to Carole.
Friday, 16th February, 2024.
The time for the water play is 12:45-1:45
If anyone can help please reach out to secretary@woolamaibeach.asn.au
