Member code of conduct
Welcome to Woolamai Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. These rules have been formalised to ensure the safety and well-being of all members. They formally advise all members and parents/guardians of our junior members of the required behaviour code and conditions of membership.
Members must always abide by the Club’s Constitution, Bylaws and rules together with all instructions given by Patrol and team leaders for the safe, lawful and harmonious operation of Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club (WBSLSC).
Members are to uphold the reputation of the club by treating the public with respect and always communicating courteously and professionally.
WBSLSC has a zero-tolerance policy for all bullying, harassment, victimisation and discrimination of others. Any breach of this will result in consequences determined by the Board which may include suspension.
All members must adhere to the behaviours and values outlined in the Diversity and Inclusion Statement.
Members must always respect the male and female-only bunkrooms and showers/toilets.
All members staying in the Clubhouse must abide by the Club’s rules in relation to the operation of the Clubhouse. This includes the cleaning up of cooking and eating equipment used and assistance with cleaning the clubhouse and lifesaving equipment.
All junior members staying at the Clubhouse must adhere to a 10 pm curfew.
No possession or consumption of any alcohol or illicit drugs is permitted by junior members whilst participating in any WBSLSC-related events/activities. Any breach of this will result in consequences set out by the current Board which may include suspension,
Senior members must not supply alcohol or illicit drugs to junior members under any circumstances whilst participating in any WBSLSC-related events/activities or staying at the Clubhouse. Any breach of this will result in consequences determined by the Board, which may include suspension.
No purchasing, possession or consumption of any illicit drugs is permitted by any member whilst participating in any WBSLSC-related events/activities. Any breach of this will result in consequences set out by the current Board which may include suspension.
Any alcohol that is to be consumed must:
a. Be purchased from the Bar;
b. Be consumed only within the licensed area of the Club; and
Be consumed only by Senior members, or visitors that are over 18 and signed into the Guest Book.
Junior Members cannot be within the licensed area whilst alcohol is being served unless in the company of a parent, step-parent, guardian, grandparent or spouse (who is or over 18 years of age) or a person acting in the place of a parent who can reasonably be expected to exercise responsible supervision of the younger person and in the participation of a sporting event before 9 pm on Sunday or 10 pm on other days.
Junior members are not permitted to spend the night anywhere other than the clubhouse or club residence when participating in any WBSLSC-related events/activities unless they are in the company of a parent or legal guardian.
All members must respect the property of the club and other members. All members are responsible for their possessions at the clubhouse and residence.
Members will be given an appropriate sanction by the club if they break any of the above rules. If this involves any loss of privilege or any cost, neither the club, its officers, nor any other individual associated with the club will be liable for such costs. Any costs incurred through this process are the liability of the offending member or of a Junior Member, their legal guardian
All members and parents of junior members are required to sign below to indicate they agree to and will abide by the above conditions of membership to Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club
