Works ramping up at the Clubhouse

This week has seen much needed work being carried out on the all abilities access ramp at the Clubhouse.

The Casey Home Group has been engaged to replace worn timber on the ramp surface, replace rails, carry out repairs to the structure and to place stainless steel capping on the ramp posts to prevent water damage.

The ramp upgrade is part of a suite of projects which form part of the Woolamai Beach Environs Management Plan.

The Club was successful in receiving funding via the Commonwealth Government’s Building Better Regions Fund to carry out a range of improvements around the Clubhouse surrounds.

Phillip Island Nature Parks has also made funds available, is supervising works and providing advice and support.  PINP has also carried out further sand clearing in the past month which has greatly assisted the project.

Life Saving Victoria is also onboard and is providing invaluable support to the project through its project manager.

We are currently securing approvals and gaining quotes to construct a concrete path near the Club entrance, reduce and revegetate the dunes surrounding the Clubhouse, build a retaining wall and re-profile the pathway to the beach to reduce the amount of sand blowing through the gap in front of the Clubhouse.

You will notice many hay bales on the beach immediately next to the dunes in front of the Clubhouse -these are to help build widen and re-profile the dune  to better protect the Clubhouse and pathways.

Works around the Clubhouse and dune system will continue until the end of 2023.  This is due to the need to time the project to avoid peak periods, minimise impacts to local wildlife and accommodate the best seasonal conditions for revegetation.

You can help us protect the dune system, by staying off the dunes and out of the roped off areas.

Come and check out the upgraded ramp and other works when you visit the Clubhouse on Sunday (24 July) to attend the Annual General Meeting.
