Valuing Volunteers Event

Volunteers contribute thousands of hours to lifesaving each year in a wide range of roles. In the 2021-22 season more than ever, we have seen how every one of these vital roles has played a significant part within the lifesaving movement.

The Valuing Volunteers Evening events are traditionally part of Life Saving Victoria’s annual National Volunteer Week celebrations and applaud the incredible contributions of our diverse, skilled and committed Victorian members.

Last week, 18 Woolamai Beach members were recognised for their outstanding volunteer contribution throughout the 2021/22 season. This is once again our biggest group of members from the club to achieve 100+ voluntary hours in the season.

Tesla Powerwall

The grants team have been busy over the last few months, successfully securing a grant through the Community Climate Change and Energy Action program.

The project was 100% funded by Sustainability Victoria, who we thank greatly for their support!

The Tesla Powerwall will help the club monitor its battery usage as well as provide a way to store power from our solar panels.

Clubhouse Restricted Access/Off season works

Following up on a previous message from us, we’d just like to remind everyone that a few weeks ago we discovered that the power supply cables to the Clubhouse were dangerously close to the surface of the ground. Some areas are indeed exposed in the sand dunes near ANZACs.

As a result, Woolamai Beach SLSC, Phillip Island Nature Parks and Life Saving Victoria have been advised that the power supply to our Clubhouse will be suspended while we work out a safe solution together.

Unfortunately, the back entrance, driveway, and area directly outside of the gear shed should NOT be used or accessed under any circumstances.

As well as this, a number of internal works and renovations are being done in order to get the club looking fabulous for the start of next season.

For the time being we ask that you do not attend the Clubhouse unless required in an emergency in which the front door (under the ramp) can be accessed.

We thank you for your patience and understanding. An update will be provided once we have more information and/or a solution has been reached.

With thanks,

The Board of Woolamai Beach SLSC
