Training Update
IRB Camp (Easter)
Combining resources, equipment and trainers, both Woolamai & Inverloch were able to host a combined IRBC camp. The Easter IRB Crew Camp saw 9 Woolamai members and 10 Inverloch members obtain the IRBC award.
The camp was a lot of fun, and it was great to have such a strong relationship with a neighboring club in the region.
Woolamai Beach SLSC will look to continue creating relationships with the other ‘Bass’ lifesaving clubs, and hope to deliver more inter-club training in the future.

We are very excited to welcome a new partnership with 35 students and 2 teachers from the Bass Coast High School in Wonthaggi and San Remo who completed their SRC/Bronze qualification during the week. This relationship is only the beginning, with the school to give year 9 students the opportunity to complete their SRC qualification through the advanced program.
We are very excited to work with the schools to plan for an amazing camp next year.

2022 LSV U15 Development Camp
The U15 Leadership Development camp took place 29 April – 1 May at YMCA Anglesea, with the biggest attendance yet of 73 participants representing 37 clubs across the state
Woolamai Beach SLSC had the following attendees
Ayden Fawaz
Oscar Goodger-McGrath
Sophia Hungerford
We also had Joshua Williams and Michael Butler attend as camp leaders!
The participants were split across five groups which were led by 13 amazing LSV volunteer leaders, who all gave up their weekend to assist to develop our youth members.
With leadership, teamwork, and knowledge building, key themes across the weekend, participants were challenged by activities such as high ropes, where they were pushed out of their comfort zone in a supportive environment. The personality profiling gave them a personal insight about their strengths and how they work best in a group. The lifesaving scenarios was a key highlight amongst participants, where they were provided with the opportunity to refine their bronze and SRC skills.
Camp Objectives
Develop participants self-awareness, leadership and team work skills
Inspire participants to stay involved in lifesaving through broadening their understanding of lifesaving pathways and identifying personal goals
Facilitate a safe and welcoming environment to develop interclub relationships
Provide an opportunity to build on the development of fundamental lifesaving skills
Encourage participants to make valued contributions back to their clubs
Participants were involved in numerous activities across the weekend, these included -
Personality and Leadership Styles, High Ropes, Initiative Trail, Vertical Challenge and Lifesaving Scenarios, as well as panel of leaders delivering a pathways session on the Saturday night displaying pathways available in Lifesaving, as well as the Adventure Race on the Sunday morning.
All activities are designed for the participants to learn from in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.
