Get to know your Woolamai members

Jesse has gone from strength to strength as a member of our Club. He has proven himself to be a valuable member the team! At our Presentation Night for Season 2018/2019 Jesse was the recipient of the Club Captains Award for his outstanding efforts to our operational capacity!

He loves the people and the people love him back! Peter 'Moatey' Moate has been around for a fair while now! His experiences are broad ranging and strong! An elite Surf Life Saver, we love having him around to raise the next generation of leaders!

Andrew "Crowy" Crow is a mentor to many and a perfect person to have by your side in the surf! He has guided the future of the Surf Life Saving movement and continues to be a guiding hand for our members when times get tough!

Since joining the club Christos has shown that he will one day be a major leader in our Surf Club! He is keen, energetic and willing to learn! He always takes on a Challenge and carries a smile on his face! We look forward to seeing him grow into an even better Surf Life Saver in the future!

Bonny is an incredible member of our club and a strong and leading female Surf Life Saver. Bonny is, as well as a volunteer Life Saver, a paid Lifeguard from our club. She is also one of our current First Aid Officers! Bonny has done a lot in her time at the club and we love her for it.

A member since 2016 and now our Vice Chief Instructor, Terry’s commitment to ensuring Woolamai Beach and Smith’s Beach are patrolled by highly-qualified surf lifesavers is unparalleled. Terry routinely exceeds 100 hours contribution in a season and has even tipped 200 hours. 2019-2020 training calendar is looking stronger than ever. Terry is studying to be a paramedic, works as a professional lifeguard and referees state league basketball.

One of our 2018-19 Club Vice Captains, Annie completed her Surf Rescue Certificate in 2013 and in 2015, her Bronze Medallion. Annie has taken on several leadership roles within the club and Life Saving Victoria. Annie is currently studying to become a nurse.

Taylah is a two-season member and has been kicking goals since she joined. Seeing her smiling face around the club is always uplifting. We’re positive that with individuals like Taylah in our club, our future is in great hands.

A long-time surfer of Cape Woolamai, Mark Bain joined in 2012 as a Nipper parent and went on to attain his Bronze Medallion, actively patrol and become Administration and Finance Director. His son Lachie – and soon Nathan – also patrols.

Brendan Smart has been a successful Chief Instructor for 5 seasons, delivering record numbers of new members and member qualificiations, Patrol Captain for 4 seasons, a Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Crew Member and Lifeguard for 7 seasons

Hannah began her life saving journey in 2009. ‘From the moment I began I was instantly hooked, finding myself gaining more awards and taking on additional roles within my club.’ Hannah has been a Patrol Captain for the mighty Sandmen patrol and currently run the Woolamai Beach SLSC Bronze Camps. This year Hannah was lucky enough to take up the role of the Chief Lifeguard of Bass Coast.

Holly is the 2018-19 Patrol Vice Captain of the Mighty Ducks Patrol. Holly joined the club in 2012 as part of the Upwey High School Bronze Program, and has patrolled all but one season since. She is the Patrol Vice Captain of the Mighty Ducks and loves being able to work with everyone in her patrol and all the other folks at the Club.

Our current Director of Communications, Tia has been a member of Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club for 10 years. In this 10 years, Tia has served as a First Aid Team Leader at our Special Events, Patrol Vice Captain, First Aid Officer and Patrol Mentor. Outside of Surf Life Saving Tia is an Occupational Therapist and is passionate about her work and this area of healthcare.
